Day 61: Biscuit Day

In some countries, the day after Christmas is called “Boxing Day.”

This tradition arose because, in decades past, personal assistants would spend the actual day of Christmas serving their bosses. Then, on the day after Christmas, they would be rewarded for their service with a “Christmas box.”

In more modern times, this tradition has become what is now known as “Biscuit Day.”

On this exceptionally popular holiday, instead of presents, the bosses permit their assistants to hand-feed them tasty fresh-baked biscuits.

The assistants are also permitted to take photographs with their bosses, admire their soft, glossy feathers, and offer words of praise and love.

Here, a small boss with glossy feathers permits his assistant, the Small Chef, to hand-feed him a fresh-baked biscuit.

It is easy to see why this holiday is so popular.

Nom nom nom.....

Nom nom nom…..

Sometimes the boss is so pleased with an assistant that they are actually permitted to take “close up” photos of Biscuit Day.

(This is the equivalent of getting an “exceeds expectations” rating on your annual performance review.)

Yes, you may take some "close up" photos of Boxing Day this year.

Oh, and Mom? Make sure to note on the Small Chef's performance review that she "exceeds expectations" (something to aspire to!).

I agree - I do look very cute chowing down on biscuit.

  1. Oh Pearl you look especially cute in some of those pictures! We also celebrate biscuit day in our house and according to Charlie it should be celebrated more often! I tried to explain to him we don’t have a small tree to help and his assistant is just like yours not a great cook. He grumbled a lot.but continued to chow down on the biscuit in hand or should I say talon!

  2. What a little muncher! I love it. Pearl is spoilt that is more than clear. I know my cockatiels are envious of this treatment. One on one time is not always available in our nest.
