Being proud of your own species is a natural thing (especially if you have feathers, which means you belong to the best one).
But developing interspecies appreciation is also vital – it keeps jealousy low and ensures your interspecies “alpha” status remains unchallenged.
Is this the being you wanted me to appreciate today, Mom?
Hi there. My name is Pearl. I am a parrot. I have lots of feathers. I’m the “alpha” in my flock.
You don’t have any feathers? What a bummer. I have to be honest – I’m not envying the brown fuzzy stuff, but these things are colorful. Are these your wings?
You don’t have any wings either? Why not?!
You’re a “camel” so you got extra legs instead? Oh – okay – here they are. I suppose extra legs could come in handy. Somehow.
Well, look on the bright side – at least you got a tail. Everyone needs a tail, even if it isn’t feathery.
